You need a partner who speaks engineering and art. Anchor & Key delivers production welding, custom fabrication, and public art support across the Mid-Atlantic corridor.
Anchor & Key Ironwork Studio delivers precision custom metal fabrication and welding services for architecture, industry, and public art across Philadelphia, Bucks County, New York City, Washington DC, and Baltimore. We combine studio craftsmanship with production-grade process control to produce inspection-ready work that installs cleanly and lasts.
We handle MIG/Flux-core, TIG, and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and bronze. Our fabrication services include CNC plasma and laser cutting, sheet metal cutting and forming, mill and lathe machining, metal forming/braking/bending, assembly, and finishing with sandblasting and powder coating. When projects demand field support, our mobile welding team works safely and efficiently on site.
The practice is led by Brent Howard, founder of the Yale University sculpture shop, MFA in Sculpture, former SpaceX platform supervisor overseeing a weld team, and a welding educator with experience in high-pressure environments, including pipe welding for oil rigs. That background shows up in our work: clear drawings and tolerances, disciplined sequencing, clean fit-up, and finishes that meet the specification.
Clients engage us for architectural railings and stairs, custom brackets and supports, furniture and fixtures, ornamental ironwork, public art fabrication, and heavy equipment crack repair. We also restore gates, railings, and sculptures with methods that respect original character while improving durability.
Our approach begins with design-assist. We align scope, loads, materials, and finishes; plan fixtures and jigs; and set QA checkpoints. We then move through cut → form → machine → fixture → weld → finish → package, labeling parts to accelerate installation. For critical details we use mockups or test coupons to prove edge quality, bend radii, and coating adhesion.
Whether you are an architect in Philadelphia, a contractor in New York City, a facilities team in Washington DC, or an artist fabricating in Baltimore, you get the same standard: predictable schedules, documented quality, and metalwork that performs. Share drawings (PDF/DXF/DWG) or sketches to start a clear, practical conversation about your project.
